Workplace Inspections
This course provides one of the best ways to identify problems before an accident takes place. Regular inspections of the workplace by the Joint Health and Safety Committee or a Worker Safety Representative represent a legal requirement under Ontario’s Health and Safety Law and an effective proactive approach to accident prevention. This course teaches you how to conduct an effective workplace inspection, knowing what to look for and how to prepare a comprehensive report to management, in order to initiate corrective action.
You Will Learn to:
- Appreciate that inspections are part of a proactive, accident prevention system
- How to prepare in order to carry out a successful inspection
- What to look for (providing a cross-reference to applicable Regulations)
- How to differentiate between Potential and Actual hazards
- Know the difference between a “Risk” and “Hazard”
- Know how to accurately complete a workplace inspection form (A template will be provided)
- Know when a risk can or cannot be eliminated and what recommendations are required
- Actually conduct an effective Inspection of your workplace (When course is presented within your facility)
Course length: 4 hours or as One-Day Training Workshop – Maximum: 16 participants
Methodology:
Lecture, videos, overheads, practical application, discussion of workplace-specific forms/documents (provided by instructor and any provided by client) and discussion generated by question and answer periods.
Logistics:
The Training takes place on client’s premises. The assigned training area will need to be equipped with tables and chairs to
accommodate up to 16 participants. Training equipment, such as Flip Chart/White Board and Audio/Video will be discussed with
client as to availability/requirement at time of scheduling course.
